Step 1: Define Your Ideal Client Profile 🤔
What industry are they in? (Products, Services, film, independent media, A.i...)
How big is their company? (Employees, Revenue, track record...)
What are their content needs? (Social Media, Advertisement, film, television...)
✍🏽 Action Item: Create a realistic list of companies you could do work for.
Step 2: Make Your Brand 🎨
What branding would your Ideal Customer resonate with?
How is your value proposition?
🖍 Action Item #1: Decide on a name, logo, icon, colors, etc. that appeals to your Client (company wanting to hire you for your services)
🎥 Action Item #2: Create a portfolio with examples videos that appeal to your Client (Looking for regular work as a live performer, show proof of life performance ability). (Applying for military action roles? - Show footage of you practicing and working with Firearms). Wanting a job as a show host? Create your own materials hosting at other events as a sample!
Step 3: Create Packages 📦
Here's How we priced ourselves over the years working in China. My company, STUDIO, sold on average like this:
The low end starting out rate for a new talent in the market - 2-4000rmb per day.
2000 - 4000 RMB per day
10 Hour working days
Every hour over 10 is charged at 10% for the day's rate
Month package deals accepted as low as 30k minimum
Travel days are paid at half day rate.
Rest days are paid at full price or half day rate.
📄 Incentivise the contract to be signed IMMEDIATELY to lock the work: Create packages and incentivise a monthly package deal in a simple "One-Pager" translate in both English and the local markets language.
For those outside of the American market, these contract specifics are CRITICAL, you have no union so you must learn to contract yourself.
Step 4: Message Your Possible Client 💬
Warm Outreach 🔥
Go on LinkedIn, Or your local markets respective applicaiton. Look at where your connections work.
Have them introduce you to a "Decision-Maker".
This could be a CMO, Head of Content, Head of marketing, Casting, head talent manager, head agent, line producer, fight coordinators, action coordinators assistants, theatre managers, internal casting.
Cold Outreach 🧊
Search on LinkedIn and IMDB for the companies, agents, managers, castings directors, action departments on your list.
Find a "Decision-Maker" to reach out to.
If possible find a mutual acquaintance to introduce you.
Use Apollo.IO to generate leads and track industry relationships as well as uncover contact information of hard to get to people.
Send a personalised email with a cover letter, your resume and book a call.
📣 Action Item: Reach out to as many businesses as you can without lowering email quality.
Step 5: Close the Deal 🤝
Discovery Call (Use this Template)
Introduce yourself and your company. YES, if you're an actor you should register your own company. It's professional and provides solutions legally to production as well as optimising your book keeping and tax. In the beginning keep it simple. As you scale - open legally.
Learn about them and their company (find out what is is exactly they need, then pitch that back to them).
Ask "What does a win look like?".
Prescribe deliverables to fit their needs.
Give them a ballpark $ range NOT A DAY RATE. (E.G $5K - $10K)
Make it Official
Send an official proposal following the call OR request a contract (depending on the client, commercial, film, theatre, online social media, private).
Finalize over email or hop on a call if needed.
Sign contracts.
Get deposit or full payment upfront or split over the course of the services contract.

Create quality content. Make them need you.
Start hiring when you're ready. (I'd start w/ an editor to expand and mass create social media to market yourself)
